Amnesty International

Students will follow Amnesty's special projects and get involved with letter writing in support of prisoners of conscience.

Aprendiendo Inglés Solido

The purpose is to be of aid to the Latin elementary school community in the city of Atlanta through working directly with children and publishing a newsletter. The group works with students at the Solidarity School and Garden Hills Elementary School.

Atlanta Community Food Bank

Students work in school and at the Food Bank on multiple projects throughout the year, including sorting, food drives, fundraising, Hunger Walk, and community gardening.

Campbell-Stone

Students visit the Campbell-Stone Assisted Living Residence each week to spend time with residents, building relationships through regular and meaningful communication.

Children of Hope

Formerly called Children of War, the group works to raise funds that will go towards providing relief to the people, particularly former child soldiers, of Sierra Leone, who are still suffering the after-effects of a bitter civil war.

Eating Disorders Information Network (EDIN)

EDIN is an organization in Atlanta that educates people about eating disorders and that has started recently to work through high schools so that student representatives can educate their peers. The AIS chapter began two years ago and has made good progress in making students aware of the seriousness of eating disorders.

Habitat for Humanity

Students participate in the North Fulton County chapter of Habitat helping with awareness, fundraising, and construction.

InterAct - Rotary International

Students work with the Buckhead and Atlanta Peachtree Chapters of Rotary International on sponsored service projects and leadership training.

International Students Against Landmines

Started in 1996, this group works to educate students at AIS and other schools about the terror of landmines. They also raise funds to help various de-mining efforts and help landmine survivors around the world.

Model United Nations (MUN)

Student participation in various national and international MUN conferences helps to provide a greater understanding of the United Nations and contemporary international issues.

Peer Mentoring

Students tutor/mentor AIS students (Grades 3-8) who are in need of homework help.

Recycling Club

Students find ways to educate the school community about conservation and the environment, and help with collection and recycling of paper and aluminum cans for the school.

Student Government

A student representative group concerned with student life at AIS.

Students Aiding Refugee Children (SARC)

Provides a direct link between AIS and students in the after-school program at the International Community School (ICS), founded by former Head of Primary School Bill Moon. AIS students help ICS students with their homework, reading, etc.

Yearbook

The yearbook is a valuable, annual record of life at Atlanta International School. Student staff will learn and develop business skills, such as web-based design, interviewing and reporting, copywriting and advertising as well as having their own creative input. Training and coaching will be provided by an AIS advisor along with John James (Herff Jones Publishing), who is a veteran yearbook specialist.

Video Yearbook

An annual production team creates live footage documentation of the AIS year.
